With Pep Guardiola’s side now on the hunt to win a fifth consecutive Premier League trophy, a current top-flight player has shared his thoughts on one former City player who many supporters will have fond memories of.

Mario Lemina hails former Man City star David Silva

In a recent video shared on Wolves’ official TikTok page, Mario Lemina was involved in a challenge where he had to blind rank 10 former Premier League midfielders.

When David Silva came up as an option, Lemina said this about the former City star.

He said: “David Silva. Class, really class.”

The Wolves star then positioned the Spaniard in fifth place, ultimately putting him above Mesut Ozil, Fernandinho, Jordan Henderson, Roy Keane and Mark Noble.

Silva is one of the best in Premier League history

Back in the 2010 summer transfer window, City paid £24m (via BBC Sport) to sign Silva from Valencia.

The midfielder then went on to make 436 appearances for the Blues before leaving in the summer of 2020 to make a move back to Spain with Real Sociedad.

Across those appearances, Silva scored 77 goals, delivered 130 assists and won numerous domestic trophies including four Premier League titles.

Following his exit from the Manchester club, City put up a statue of the Spaniard outside the Etihad Stadium to commemorate his efforts for the Blues.

Earlier this year, Phil Foden admitted that he used to idolise Silva in the early stages of his career.

With all of that in mind, it shouldn’t surprise many City fans that Lemina has also shared his admiration for the former midfield star, who is undoubtedly one of the best players in Premier League history.
