Reports show that top officials, including the Minister of Sports, John Enoh and the NFF president, Ibrahim Gusau, have been linked to the acquisition of luxury vehicles worth millions of naira.
According to documents obtained by our correspondent, the minister recently approved a payment of N142.7 million for the purchase of a brandnew Toyota Prado LC300 3.5L Twin Turbo Auto leather seat.
The payment, dated July 8, 2024, was made to QLS Global Services Limited, the company responsible for supplying the vehicle. The deal was finalised with an additional payment of N7,137,137.36 to the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) being a 5% tax on the vehicle purchase.
Similarly, the president of the NFF has also benefited from the largesse. On May 21, 2024, the NFF splurged N87.3 million on an official vehicle for the federation’s president. The funds were paid to Mujaf Automobile Nigeria Ltd.
Our correspondent had late last year reported that the minister was planning to splash N300 million on two vehicles, Toyota Prado and Lexus Jeep RX 570, as captured in the 2024 budget.
New Telegraph can now report that the Toyota Prado has already been acquired by the minister. Similarly, our correspondent discovered that the NFF spent N37 million over the past two years on auditing services.
Records indicate that N18.8 million was paid to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) on May 8, 2024, for auditing the federation’s 2023 accounts. An identical sum was disbursed for auditing services of the 2022 accounts, and N9.4 million was paid in July 2021 for auditing the 2020 records.
