A blogger on Instagram had compared NNPC fuel to Dangote fuel by filling generators with the same amount of each fuel and timing how long they ran.

The generator allegedly using Dangote fuel ran for 30 minutes, while the one claiming to be using NNPC fuel died after 17 minutes and 51 seconds.

But THE WHISTLER findings revealed that the video is an attempt to demarket the NNPC Ltd.

Findings revealed that a significant percentage of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at NNPC retail stations in Lagos where this deceptive video was created is sourced from the Dangote Refinery.

Since August last year, the NNPC Ltd has been buying petrol from Dangote Refinery under the naira for crude sale arrangement.

The move had assisted the NNPC to distributed petrol to customers at a price that is competitive for the Nigerian market.

THE WHISTLER had reported that in a bid to demonstrate its readiness towards buying petrol from Dangote Refinery Petrochemical Company Ltd, the NNPC Ltd had from September 15, last year mobilised 500 trucks to the facility.

The trucks had enabled NNPC Ltd, to lift petrol from the Dangote Refinery

The Dangote Refinery has been a strategic partner of the NNPC Ltd in promoting local production and energy security.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has strongly refuted the false and misleading allegations made in a viral video circulating online, which claims that NNPC fuel does not last.

The National Oil Company said in a statement on Saturday that this assertion is baseless and entirely unfounded, originating from unverified and amateur research that lacks credibility, accuracy, and professional oversight.

It said, “The NNPC Ltd reaffirms that its fuel is carefully formulated with one of the best compositions, ensuring optimal efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability for consumers.

“This misleading video represents yet another desperate attempt by economic saboteurs to misinform the public and tarnish NNPC Ltd’s reputation. We will not tolerate deliberate misinformation designed to undermine our operations and mislead Nigerians.

“Henceforth, NNPC Ltd will take firm legal action against individuals or groups who intentionally spread falsehoods about our brand and operations. Those engaged in such malicious activities will be held fully accountable under the law.”

The NNPC Ltd urged the public to disregard such fabricated content and rely on verified sources for accurate information.

“NNPC Ltd remains steadfast in its mission to ensure fuel availability, affordability, and quality for all Nigerians while maintaining global industry standards,” Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the NNPC Ltd, concluded in the statement.
