According to DSC Amidu Nyako, the NSCDC Command Public Relations Officer, Stephen admitted to defrauding individuals of up to half a million naira in the two cities. Stephen claimed that his involvement in these criminal activities was driven by a medical condition.
Nyako emphasized the importance of vigilance for sellers and POS operators, advising them to verify any transfer of funds into their accounts before releasing goods or making cash payments to customers.
Adamawa State NSCDC Commandant Ibrahim Mainasara has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the case, and Stephen is expected to face charges in court soon.
