BREAKING: Nwoko’s Defection to APC Not About 2027, Says Chief of Staff

Senator Ned Nwoko’s decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) was driven by his commitment to delivering on his campaign promises, not by ambitions for the 2027 elections, his Chief of Staff, Dr. Michael Nwoko, has said......CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>.....CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>

Speaking on the African Independent Television (AIT) Prime Time Morning Show, Dr. Nwoko dismissed claims that the senator’s defection was politically motivated, describing it as a necessary move to secure a platform that would enable him to fulfill his mandate to the people of Delta North.

“The Senator, driven by his commitment to his constituents, is eager to deliver on the promises made during his campaign,” Dr. Nwoko stated, emphasizing that his principal’s focus remains on developmental projects rather than political calculations.

He expressed concerns over the treatment Senator Nwoko received within the PDP, alleging that internal party dynamics and a lack of support from the leadership had hindered the lawmaker’s efforts to improve the lives of his constituents. He recalled that despite playing a crucial role in the party’s success in the 2023 elections, including visiting all 98 wards in the senatorial district to campaign for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other PDP candidates, the senator’s efforts were not adequately recognized.

A major area of concern, according to Dr. Nwoko, was the stalled Okpai Power Plant project, which the senator had vigorously pursued with federal agencies, including the Minister of Power and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). However, he lamented the lack of support from the state government in fast-tracking the project, despite its potential to significantly boost power supply in Delta North.

Similarly, Dr. Nwoko pointed to the Ogwashi-Uku dam, which Senator Nwoko helped attract to the state during his tenure in the House of Representatives. While the dam has been completed, he noted that the absence of state government intervention in water reticulation has rendered it non-operational.

“The Senator’s goal, therefore, is to sever ties with a political environment where his efforts have been dismissed and align with a party that is more supportive of his mission to improve the lives of his constituents,” he added.

Dr. Fred Latimore, Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communication Bureau, who also appeared virtually on the AIT program, acknowledged Senator Nwoko’s influence and commitment to the development of Delta State.

With his defection, Senator Nwoko aims to ensure that critical projects, including power and water infrastructure, receive the attention they deserve, reaffirming his dedication to the people of Delta North beyond political affiliations.
