This announcement was made in a statement released to the press in Kano on Thursday, outlining the group’s concerns regarding the current economic situation in the country.
“This move is a response to the growing economic pains being influenced on the people by the Tinubu regime,” Comrade Yakubu stated, emphasizing the need for urgent action from the government.
He clarified that the nationwide protest is intended to be peaceful and will last for a single day, serving as a warning to the administration to address the escalating cost of living crisis before it leads to broader unrest.
“The nationwide protest will be peaceful and will last for a day, making it a warning for the government to speedily address the cost of living.”
“This is a time for statesmanship and not brinkmanship,” he stressed, reflecting the sentiment of many Nigerians grappling with rising inflation and a decline in living standards.
Comrade Yakubu reiterated that the demands of the protest are nationally coordinated, indicating that participants across the country will be unified in their message.
“You’ll hear the same message from our comrades across the nation,” he noted.
Yakubu underscored the importance of leadership that prioritizes the welfare of citizens.
“This is a National Survival issue. We call on President Tinubu to think of Nigeria first. That’s the way statesmen behave,” he said, urging leaders to engage with the populace to better understand their challenges.
He lamented the current disconnect between leadership and citizens, stating, “The leader eats last, not first and alone, as is the case with most of ours.”
The declaration has resonated with various groups and individuals who are increasingly frustrated by economic hardships. The NPFM aims to galvanize public support for the protest, highlighting the urgent need for dialogue between the government and the citizens it serves.
As the date approaches, the organization is expected to mobilize supporters and raise awareness about the issues that have led to this call for action.
