Chief Segun Sowunmi, a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, has said that Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, minister, is the party’s biggest issue right now......Read The Full Article>>.....Read The Full Article>>
Wike, Rivers State’s immediate former governor, is a PDP leader who works for Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress, APC. administration.
Speaking to the New Telegraph, Sowunmi stated, “I think it is the largest elephant in our room and the biggest difficulty that we have in the PDP because it is now the most polarising topic in our party.
In the eyes of the world, the former River State governor remains a PDP member. Even if he claims to be a member of the party, is his spirit, body, and soul still in the party?
”Because of past experiences, people are scared but to say that the country has never had a situation where somebody has been in a party and serving another party in government is wrong.
”When late Chief Bola Ige served in the PDP government of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, he was a member of the AD and when he was about to leave the government then, he was still a member of the AD.
”So, there is precedence to some of these things. Just because we had a situation like that in the past doesn’t mean that we have to be stuck with that. All of these and even more are the issues.
”In any case, there is a disciplinary committee in place as we speak; anyone who has a tangible basis to establish any form of infraction against anybody should present it to the disciplinary committee, and we will have to see how it goes.”
Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has announced that the Abuja Industrial Park, currently being developed by the Zeberced Group, is expected to create 40,000 jobs and significantly boost Nigeria’s economy once it becomes fully operational.
Wike made this statement during a visit to the site located at the Idu Industrial Zone in Abuja on Wednesday.
Visibly impressed by the progress of the development, the minister pledged to personally brief President Bola Tinubu on what he had observed.
Describing the project as extraordinary, Wike expressed confidence that it would contribute to the growth of the nation’s economy and provide employment opportunities for the large number of youths in the FCT.
