The PDP has expressed confidence in the process, which is expected to shape the party’s leadership structure for the coming years.

In a statement released on Saturday, Usman Okai Austin, the Chairman of the Kogi State PDP Congress Committee, said that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure the congress is both free and fair.

He emphasized that all legal and constitutional requirements have been carefully met, with no procedural lapses.

Austin expressed optimism that the outcome of the congress will be the election of a new State Working Committee.

This new committee, he believes, will reinvigorate the party’s activities, positioning it as a stronger opposition force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the congress is not just a procedural event but a crucial step toward bolstering the PDP’s role in the state and nationally.

Addressing circulating rumors about potential legal hurdles, Austin categorically stated that there are no pending court summons or injunctions against the congress.

He dismissed such claims as mere political gossip aimed at creating distractions. He acknowledged that discontent is often part of the political process, particularly among those who are not satisfied with electoral outcomes, but reassured party members that the PDP is focused on moving forward.

The PDP’s Congress Committee also highlighted that the three-man ad-hoc delegates’ process has been successfully completed.

In addition, an appeals committee has already been established and inaugurated to handle any grievances that may arise from the process.

This level of preparation, according to Austin, demonstrates the PDP’s commitment to ensuring that the Congress proceeds smoothly and in line with the party’s constitution.

The party further emphasized that the entire process has received the necessary approval from the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja.

The NWC has addressed and resolved all concerns raised during the ad-hoc congress, thereby giving the green light for today’s state congress. Austin stressed that this approval adds an extra layer of legitimacy to the event.

The party leadership also urged all delegates and members to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations set out for the congress.

Comprehensive security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of delegates traveling from all 21 local government areas of the state.

The PDP expressed its commitment to safeguarding its members and ensuring a hitch-free process.

“As the congress approaches, the PDP wishes all delegates and members a safe journey and reiterates its commitment to representing the interests of the people after the convention,” Austin added.

He also dismissed any speculation about the possibility of another congress, describing such notions as wishful thinking.

The PDP leadership in Kogi State is confident that today’s congress will result in the emergence of a dynamic leadership team with a clear mandate to serve the people of Kogi.

The statement concluded on a note of optimism, with the PDP poised to emerge from this congress with renewed energy and a stronger resolve to serve as a voice for the people of Kogi State.
