The Party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) has established a panel, chaired by former Minister of Special Duties Kabiru Turaki, to interface with the two claimants to the position, Sunday Ude-Okoye and Samuel Anyanwu.
The BoT announced the constitution of the panel in a communique issued at the end of its meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday.
The dispute began in December 2024 when the Court of Appeal ruled that Ude-Okoye should replace Anyanwu as the PDP’s national secretary.
However, Anyanwu has appealed the judgment and filed for a stay of execution at the Supreme Court.
According to Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the BoT, the panel’s primary objective is to “interface with the parties, study the situation, and report to the Board for further action.”
Wabara emphasized the need for all stakeholders to prioritize the Party’s “stability, unity, and progress” above personal interests.
In a related development, Ude-Okoye claimed that he was attacked by “some people” when he attempted to attend the BoT meeting.
He reiterated his position as the authentic national secretary of the PDP, stating, “I am the national secretary of PDP. I assumed duty on the 30th of December 2024.”
The PDP’s move to establish a panel to resolve the dispute is seen as a positive step towards addressing the internal crisis within the Party.
