The acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Umar Damagum supported by his cohorts, has no legitimacy to stay a day longer in the National Secretariat of the party any more as 15th of August 2024 was his last legitimate day in such acting capacity.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
As such, all the actions henceforth carried out by the National Working Committee, (NWC) under the headship of Damagum, are illegitimate, illegal, unconstitutional, void, and therefore a complete nullity.
Accordingly, members of the party and general public must be put on serous notice.
In the PDP, the seat of the National Chairman was constitutionally zoned to the North-Central GeoPolitical Zone in December 2021during the the National Power Balancing and Sharing Arrangement of the Party which established an equilibrium in December 2021.
It was agreed that this Strategic Political Equilibrium MUST be maintained within the party for reasons of unity, stability, national cohesion and national security!
This agreement that established the Balance of Power has Constitutional backing within the PDP’s Constitution and in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with respect to the Federal Character provisions.
In that regard, Damagum’s NorthEast GeoPolitical Zone was allocated the portfolio of the Deputy National Chairman, North, while His Eminence, Senator Iyorchia Ayu’s North-Central GeoPolitical Zone was allocated the portfolio of the substantive National Chairman of PDP.
There were issues that made Senator Ayu to step aside, went to the court and he later withdrew the case from the court to allow his Zone, the North Central GeoPolitical Zone, assume its position in the initial power sharing arrangement so as to maintain the Strategic Political Equilibrium within the Party.
It would be recalled that during the period of Senator Ayu’s step-aside, the Deputy National Chairman, North, from the NorthEast, Alhaji Damagum, became the Acting National Chairman of the Party while he still holds his original portfolio of the Deputy National Chairman, North.
Ordinarily, this acting position should not be held for more than six months. However, Damagum, the power hijacker, had been there as the acting National Chairman of the Party for the past 18 months. This shouldn’t be.
This illegitimacy of longer-stay is being aided by some external and internal vectors, who are hell bent in sinking the party, PDP.
These anti-democratic agents are doing everything possible to remain in power, with the sole aim of burying PDP so as to establish a one-party system that will usher in an Authoritarian governance, Autocracy and finally a full blown Totalitarianism!
This must be vehemently resisted by all lovers of democracy in Nigeria.
Therefore, the PDP’s relevant organs such as: the Board of Trustees, (BoT), Governors’ Forum, of the PDP, and National Executive Council (NEC), of the Party must as a matter of utmost urgency, rise up to their constitutional responsibilities and take over the daily administrative powers from the current NWC that had been deeply compromised with the monthly heavy-dollar allowances, which induce them to commit treasons against their own party. This is a terrible national calamity about to befall the entire Nation.
Therefore, the public must know that the fall of PDP will be the fall of democracy in the country with other non-desirable and calamitous consequences. Damagum’s other schemes of staying a day longer after 15th of August 2024 must be resisted and crippled.
For instance, his current reconciliation team that he commissioned with well meaning party faithful as members must be rejected. The so-called Reconciliation Committee MUST dissolve itself immediately because nobody will respect its reports or findings.
Besides, Damagum can not reconcile the different factions in the PDP because he is deeply and openly part of the current problems of the PDP.
In fact, nobody will respect Damagum’s reconciliation manipulations because he lacks the moral authority to adjudicate or arbitrate on matters affecting the differing opinions in the party. His hands are well stained.
Indeed, nobody from the North-Central GeoPolitical Zone should accept any offer to work under the authority or leadership of Damagum after 15th of August, 2024 as the public is hereby put on serious notice that all actions of his NWC after the date, are a nullity for lack of legitimacy.
The PDP Governors Forum which can not and should not be bribed with the Dollar, must assume their reserved National responsibilities and rescue the PDP from Damagum and his cohorts both within and outside the Party.
An emergency NEC meeting can be summoned with the signatures of two-thirds majority of the NEC members to recover the NWC powers currently being misused against the PDP’s strategic interests.
This call for the emergency NEC meeting should be sponsored and coordinated by the Governors’ Forum that is equipped with all the necessary resources and logistics (financial, human, materials, alternate venue of meetings, security) to successfully carry out this recovery mission.
The PDP Governors’ Forum MUST also put away their current differences, in the form of individual political ambitions, and rescue the party first, otherwise, the rest will soon be a sad history, God forbids!
If PDP Governors’ Forum fails to act quickly, the terrible consequences are highly predictable. The Forum should know more than anyone else in the PDP that they will be the greatest losers if the PDP collapses.
We must be vigilant and be prepared to recover our great party, the PDP, from the power hijackers. Enough is enough!
