On August 7, the PDP summoned Suswam along with four other prominent members—Terngu Tsegba, Richard Gbande, Terseer Tsumba, and Nicholas Ada—to address claims of “anti-party activities.”
Bemgba Iortyom, the PDP spokesperson for Benue, announced on Thursday that several local government chairpersons from Apa, Gboko, Gwer-East, Katsina-Ala, Konshisha, Logo, Otukpo, and Ukum have also been suspended.
These actions followed summons on August 7 for the affected members to present themselves before the State Working Committee (SWC) to respond to allegations of undermining the party’s interests and publicizing internal disputes.
Suswam faces accusations of acting as a spokesperson for APC Governor Hyacinth Alia and publicly supporting the governor while PDP’s governorship candidate is running.
The party criticized Suswam for his involvement in activities that were deemed detrimental to the PDP, including his support for the APC governor during a public event.
The suspended members failed to attend the SWC meeting as required and instead publicly criticized the party’s leadership, which contravenes the PDP’s constitution.
They are now expected to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee, which will set a date and location for their hearing.
The PDP has urged its members to remain disciplined and support the party’s leadership during this period of internal challenges.
