In an exclusive interview with the Nigerian Tribune, Hon. Hassan commended the process, stating:
“The primaries were free and fair; aspirants contested, and winners emerged without any hitches. This is the best primaries in recent times with the largest participation; the number of those who came to contest was many, which shows that the PDP remains the dominant party in the state.”
He acknowledged that, as with any contest, there may be grievances. However, he reassured me that the party has established an Appeal Committee to address any complaints arising from the primaries. Hon. Hassan emphasised:
“There is nothing like imposition in any form; though there was consensus in some local governments and this is allowed, no stakeholder is marginalised. PDP is intact; I have not received any information that people are aggrieved.”
Additionally, the National Secretariat of the PDP has notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the postponement of wards and local government congresses in Qua’an Pan and Shendam local governments.
This decision, communicated through a letter signed by the National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyawu, was due to a conflicting electoral schedule.
