His arraignment comes after the singer surrendered himself to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba on Wednesday, February 19.

He had been declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command.

The charges against Portable follow an incident from February 5, 2025, in which he allegedly led a violent attack on officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

The officials were conducting an enforcement exercise at his bar in the Sango Ota area when the assault happened, which resulted in injuries to the officials.

While nine of Portable’s associates were arrested at the scene, the singer evaded capture until his recent surrender.

Portable, born on March 12, 1994, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, gained prominence with his 2021 hit single “ZaZoo Zehh,” featuring Olamide and Poco Lee.

His music career has been marked by multiple controversies, including public disputes with fellow artists and allegations of violent behaviour.

In 2023, he was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command after failing to comply with a 72-hour ultimatum to surrender himself in connection with an alleged assault.

The Ogun State Government has condemned Portable’s recent actions, and described him as a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal.”

The Ogun State government has reiterated its commitment to uphold the law and ensure that such behaviour is addressed appropriately.
