It is understood that the Ogun State Police Command has been contacted to take him into custody.
“Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up,” the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, told journalists on Wednesday.
Okikiola was declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command on Monday for allegedly assaulting officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) while they were performing their lawful duties.
Reacting to the police declaration via Instagram on Tuesday, the singer claimed he was being set up for wearing a vest bearing the image of Senator Adeola Solomon, popularly known as Yayi.
Adeola is a senator representing Ogun West district under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Portable further disclosed that he has been receiving treatment for mental health issues at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.
“I fear government. I am a federal government liability. Then I’m a madman; I have medications that I usually take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients.
“I am from Abeokuta and they are taking care of me there. I am not a thief, I help people around me without even looking at their background,” he said.
The Ogun State Police Command stated that on February 5, Portable led a violent attack on enforcement officers at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Ota.
During the operation, officials encountered an elderly man, later identified as Portable’s father, at Odogwu Bar, a property linked to the singer.
Portable’s father introduced himself and asked for the building’s approved plan, informing the officials that his son was not available.
Shortly after, Portable allegedly arrived with a firearm and led a gang of nine thugs in an attack on the unarmed officials.
The enforcement officers sustained various injuries but managed to escape and report the assault to the Ota Area Command, which then escalated the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
While nine of Portable’s accomplices were arrested, the singer fled the scene and went into hiding.
The police stated that multiple invitations were sent to Portable, requesting his presence at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Abeokuta, but he ignored them and failed to provide legal representation.
“Following his repeated evasion, the Ogun State Police Command has obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted,” the police urging the public to assist in locating the singer.
