[BREAKING] Protest: Police Begin House-to-house Search To Recover Stolen Items

Recall that the protest which started began peacefully, was unfortunately hijacked by hoodlums, leading to widespread looting.

Looters targeted various establishments, including stores, homes, and the yet-to-be-commissioned Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) office, seizing furniture, electronics, and more.

Public infrastructure, such as streetlights, was also vandalized.

Police actions have resulted in the arrest of over 400 suspects and the recovery of some looted goods.

Social media updates from residents like Sa’adatu Baba Ahmad highlighted ongoing police operations in areas like Yakasai and Durumin Zungura to reclaim stolen property.

She wrote, “Since 10:30am, looted items are being recovered from the houses of people who stole properties of the government and innocent people in the name of protest. Up till now, they are there invading the houses.”

During a recent briefing, the Kano Police Command reaffirmed their commitment to bringing those responsible for the disturbances to justice.
