Addressing journalists at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, Okocha dismissed suggestions that Wike’s role as a minister under the APC-led federal government gives him sway over the party’s decisions or meetings. “Wike is an unrepentant PDP member,” Okocha stated, adding that Wike does not attend APC meetings or participate in party affairs.
Okocha emphasized that any perceived influence of Wike stems solely from his position in the APC government, not from any direct engagement with the party. “To say he influences us is baseless. He doesn’t pay our bills, attend our meetings, or contribute to our decision-making processes,” Okocha asserted.
The APC’s stance underscores a clear separation between Wike’s role as a federal minister and the party’s internal dynamics in Rivers State. Despite his high-profile position, Wike’s relationship with the APC is limited to his official duties rather than any operational or strategic involvement with the party.
