BREAKING: Show of Shame by Police in Rivers: “‘Enough! We Don’t Need Police Security, Governor

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has expressed frustration over the role of the Nigeria police in trying to stop the September 5th scheduled local government election in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

It was reported that a yet to be unnamed Deputy Commissioner of police had on Thursday night deployed some “ police” personnel who broke into the premises of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) in Port Harcourt allegedly to confiscate election materials.

However, a video that surfaced on the internet on Friday morning, Governor Fubara is seen addressing the press where he said that Rivers State people do not “ need the protection of the police.”

The visibly angry Governor Fubara addressed the press thus:

“ Gentlemen of the press, we came here this morning when we heard that the “Nigeria police” came to takeover Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission… we heard that one DC, Operations brought them here to withdraw the policemen that were already here to protect thus facility… I have to say this on a very strong note, we have taken enough nonsense from this institution.

“ Everybody is aware of the court judgement, that says INEC should not give voters register, and what are we doing with the register.

The order that the police should not provide security does not mean that the election should not hold;

I don’t know the relationship between the Inspector General of Police and one person who claims he has so much powers in this state… the relationship is beginning to go beyond professional relationship.

… Justice Lifu who gave the fraudulent judgement did not say there should not be an election, rather he said “don’t provide” …

“ We will provide our own security, after all it happened in Anambra.

“This election must hold, results will be announced and people will be sworn-in, I say it here

“ The Nigeria police should be ashamed of itself

“ Enough is enough

“ This (RSIEC) is my property, and you [IGP] do not have any powers whatsoever to bar me from entering it”

If you try it, it will become a part of the your history as a very wicked and fraudulent Inspector General of Police that you shot Fubara. I think I have given you enough respect.

“ Let me say it to everyone residing in Rivers State that election will hold, anything that want to happen, let it happen!

If this is going to be last fight, I will take it to the end.
