Recall that Senator Ndume was removed unceremoniously from his position as Chief Whip by the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Senate Caucus following an Interview he granted recently on Arise TV, where he said, hunger and insecurity have dominated the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a press statement signed by Ndume’s Senior Legislative Aide (Media), Junaid Jubrin Maiva, which was made available to our Correspondent on Sunday in Maiduguri said: “The general public is hereby informed that the solidarity rally scheduled to take place today, 28th July 2024, in Biu, in support of Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has been cancelled.

“The cancellation comes in light of potential conflicts with a proposed nationwide protest and concerns over possible disruptions.

“Honorable Aliyu Usman (Babandi), who heads the solidarity rally, announced that the event has been called off to prevent any potential misuse by elements seeking to cause unrest.

“As law-abiding citizens, we acknowledge the plans for a national protest and do not want a situation where individuals might exploit our rally to further their personal agendas.

“Additionally, the government has explicitly advised against participation in such gatherings, and we remain loyal to the directives given by our governor, Professor Babagana Zulum.

‘Honorable Usman further emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order, appealing to the public for patience during this time of mourning over the unjust removal of our esteemed senator.

“Peace is everyone’s responsibility, and we must uphold it even as we express our grievances.

“The organizing committee apologizes for any inconvenience this cancellation may have caused to supporters, associates, and fans of Senator Ndume.

“We understand the disappointment this may bring and appreciate your understanding and cooperation, as we enjoined you to remain calm and law-abiding, pending when further notice is given or issued out, thank you”. Maiva stated.
