According to eyewitnesses and community sources, the attack occurred around 11 p.m. while Faithy was preparing to close his shop for the day. One of the assailants reportedly approached him, pretending to be a customer wanting to withdraw money. Shortly after, three masked men emerged and shot at Faithy. However, when the bullet failed to penetrate, the victim attempted to flee but was pursued and brutally butchered to death under the bridge.
The incident came just four days after a similar killing of a barber in Isale Oja Kuto, leading some community members to believe that the same gang may be responsible for both murders. Witnesses reported that the assailants in both incidents used the same vehicle, raising concerns of a coordinated attack by the group.
Faithy was laid to rest on Saturday at 2 p.m. as the community mourned the loss of a prominent member.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the tragic incident, acknowledging that the command is aware of the two recent murders and is actively working to apprehend the perpetrators behind these heinous acts.
