England on the other hand have underwhelmed, although Gareth Southgate’s side produced a much-improved performance in a 2-1 semi-final defeat of the Netherlands.

Spain is the favorite to come out on top in their first appearance in a major tournament final since 2012, and now they have been given another boost.

Barcelona youngster Gavi will reportedly join the squad in Berlin after missing the tournament through injury.

The 19-year-old midfielder would have been included in Luis de la Fuente’s 26-man squad had he not suffered a cruciate ligament tear while on international duty last November.

Gavi is not expected to return to action until September at the earliest, but the Spain squad wanted him to be with them in Berlin as he is a popular member of the dressing room.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Gavi accepted an invite from De La Fuente to link up with the squad and caught a Spanish FA (RFEF) charter flight to Berlin on Sunday morning.

The youngster is said to be excited about experiencing the occasion with his teammates, while the Spanish players are delighted that he will be joining them.

Spain hardly needed a morale boost given the form they are in, but it looks like that is exactly what they have received.

De La Fuente is expected to select a similar team to the one that beat France 2-1 in the semi-finals.

Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal is expected to come back into the side after serving a one-match suspension, but it’s unclear whether Robin Le Normand or Nacho Fernandez will partner Aymeric Laporte in central defense.
