Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has waded into the conversation about who is the best player in the current crop of the Super Eagles squad. The narrative appears to be changing as some new stars emerged during last season’s campaign.
Some of the stars that emerged were Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface and Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Elegebete TV Sports, Oliseh mentioned Ademola Lookman and Victor Boniface as his picks for the best performers among the current Super Eagles players.
“I’m looking at Lookman and one that might surprise you, Boniface. I find him extraordinarily good,” the 49-year-old said.
“I watch this guy every week because he’s playing just 45 minutes from my house at Leverkusen, so I’ve had the opportunity to watch him play many times.
“He’s a player who can do it all. He can play with his back to goal; he’s a threat one-on-one; he’s fast and strong in the air; and he lifts the entire team,” Oliseh added.
Boniface had a remarkable debut season, with Xabi Alonso’s side helping them to their first Bundesliga title and the DFB Pokal.
The 23-year-old registered 21 goals and 10 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
Lookman also had a stellar campaign with Serie A outfit Atalanta last season.
The 26-year-old delivered a stellar performance, netting a stunning hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen to guide Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to their first-ever European title.
He registered 17 goals and 10 assists across all competitions for the Bergamo-based club.
