Offiah was killed while travelling with Aghamba and his wife to Abuja. While the commissioner and his wife were kidnapped, Offiah was shot dead during the attack by gunmen.
Offiah, a lawyer from Onitsha, holds the traditional title of Kpajiego. He was also said to be a youth leader.
Meanwhile, Aghamba and his wife were Saturday night released by the kidnappers.
It was not clear whether ransom was paid before their release.
