“There’s no free beer parlour anymore. We must work hard to retool and rebuild our nation,” Tinubu said during a meeting with former Nigerian lawmakers at the State House in Abuja on Friday.
The President acknowledged the prevailing hunger and hardship in the country but stressed that real development requires time and effort.
He emphasized the need for the government to stay focused on nation-building and restructuring the country’s financial system.
Tinubu also lamented the country’s missed opportunities to develop its infrastructure, education, and other social amenities during periods of economic growth.
He noted that the failure to develop critical sectors has led to infrastructure deficits and dilapidated school facilities.
“We neglected our communities, the geese that lay the golden eggs. We forgot to give them a decent standard of living, to educate our children. Go and look at the schools; they are all ramshackle,” Tinubu added.
