On this note, a human rights group, “Center For Transparency and Advocacy, has accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of embezzling the funds accruable to the local government councils without commensurate development.
The National Coordinator of the group Comrade Maxwell Omerie said, “if the billions of naira that accrued to the local government councils since the inception of the Uzodinma administration, had been used judiciously there would have been massive infrastructural and socio-economic development in the rural communities where there is presently nothing to show that such money came in.
He wondered what the Uzodinma administration has been doing with all the funds, considering the fact that all the 27 local government councils in the state lack good roads, do not have water, electricity or functional well equipped health centers.
According to him, “the time has come for Uzodinma and his cohorts to tell Imo people what they did with all the money they collected on behalf of the people, describing their attitude as the height of wickedness and insensitivity to the plight of the people whose mandate they hold in trust. This is why he unilaterally returned over ninety percent of the Sole Administrators (SOLADs) with whom he has been working hand in gloves to short change Imo people as purportedly elected Chairmen, against the wish of the Imolites who are tired of his purposeless administration and all it entails”.
