The CNG made their stand known in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, where it condemned in strong terms the alleged threat by Wike against Bauchi State.

The statement described his alleged threat as disgraceful and thuggish while on live television.

The statement reads in part, “The Coalition of Northern Group (CNG) condemns in the strongest terms the disgraceful and thuggish threats issued by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike against Bauchi State.

“His recent outburst on live television is a stark reminder of the dangerous and unrefined attitude he has consistently displayed in his political career. It is shocking and deeply unfortunate that he holds a position in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.

“Wike’s behavior is not only an affront to the people of Bauchi State but also a direct challenge to the peace and stability of Northern Nigeria.

“The CNG wishes to make it clear that we do not take such threats lightly. No one has a monopoly on thuggery or intimidation. We are fully prepared to confront Wike and anyone who believes they can bully or destabilize our region.

“It is a tragedy for Nigeria that individuals with such a glaring lack of respect for the rule of law and civil discourse are appointed to high offices in our Federal Government. Wike’s actions have embarrassed the Tinubu administration and sullied the image of responsible governance.

The group also called the attention of President Bola Tinubu on the issue, “We call on President Tinubu to urgently reconsider the inclusion of such elements in his government.

“The Nigerian people deserve leaders who will work towards unity and stability, not those who would threaten it with their bandit-like tactics.”

The group in conclusion maintained that, “The CNG remains steadfast in our commitment to defending Northern Nigeria against any form of aggression or intimidation, and we are ready to respond with equal force to any threat posed by Wike or his ilk.”
