BREAKING: Zelenskyy Insists On NATO Membership Despite Trump’s Push To End War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reaffirmed his call for Ukraine to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), emphasising that Russian President Vladimir Putin cannot be trusted to negotiate a lasting peace......CONTINUE READING THE ARTICLE FROM THE SOURCE>>>>>

Zelenskyy disclosed this following his discussion with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Thursday.

The U.S. Secretary of Defence, Pete Hegseth, on Wednesday, said Ukraine joining NATO would not be a “realistic outcome” to broker peace between the country and Russia.

According to him, restoring Ukraine’s pre-2014 borders was “an unrealistic objective” as the U.S. is keen to end the conflict.

In a post on his X platform, Zelenskyy said Ukraine, Europe, and the U.S. needed to have a united front before any talks with Putin could begin.

The Ukrainian president revealed that he had briefed Tusk on his recent conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump on the need for European unity to ensure a successful outcome for Ukraine.

“I informed the Prime Minister about my conversation with President Trump, and we discussed key messages and the need to coordinate the positions of all Europeans to achieve successful outcomes for the whole of Europe,” Zelenskyy said.

He emphasised that “Ukraine must negotiate from a position of strength, with strong and reliable security guarantees,” adding that “NATO membership would be the most cost-effective for partners.

“Another key guarantee is a serious investment in Ukraine’s defence industry,” he added.

He also warned world leaders against trusting Putin’s claims of readiness to end the war.

Zelenskyy’s comments come just a day after Trump reached an agreement to negotiate towards ending the war in Ukraine.

Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, revealed that he had a “lengthy call” with the Russian president on bringing to a halt, the war that has lasted for nearly three years.

The Kremlin also confirmed Trump’s call, stating that Putin has extended an invitation to the U.S. president for further conversation.

However, Zelenskyy has insisted that Ukraine will not agree to any negotiation done without Ukraine’s active involvement.
