Speed Darlington was recently detained by the Nigerian Police during a concert in Imo State.

The arrest was reportedly linked to the rapper’s comments about Burna Boy’s Grammy win and his alleged associations with American rapper Diddy Combs.

In an Instagram video on Saturday, Verydarkman thanked Burna Boy for his role in the situation, explaining that the Grammy-winning artist had decided not to pursue the criminal aspect of the defamation case he had filed against Speed Darlington.

Instead, Burna Boy opted to pursue a civil case, which typically seeks financial compensation rather than criminal penalties.

According to Verydarkman, this shift in approach led to a positive outcome for Speed Darlington, as the rapper is now expected to be released on Monday, pending the court’s schedule.

Verydarkman said, “Burna Boy decided he’s not going to pursue the criminal aspect of the defamation and that he’s going to file a civil case. I heard Speed Darlington has been served, and his lawyer has been served as well. Hopefully, on Monday, Speed Darlington will be released. It depends if the judge sits.”

He also captioned the video, thanking Burna Boy for his decision, saying, “Shoutout to Burna Boy, for what you did. You’ve earned my respect. Hopefully, Speed Darlington will be out on Monday, so make we pray for the Judged to sit.”
