A former presidential spokesman, Reno Omokri, encouraged young Nigerian men not to be pressured to throw a lavish wedding as afrobeats star Davido did during his recent ceremony with his partner, Chioma Rowland. David Adeleke, the son of Nigerian billionaire and business magnate Adedeji Adeleke, tied the knot with his longtime partner in a ceremony attended by the crème de la crème of the entertainment industry and other top dignitaries......Read The Full Article>>.....Read The Full Article>>
While the wedding dominated the trends in traditional media and social media, with Nigerians sharing their thoughts, Omokri, in a post on Facebook, advised fans, especially men, not to be pressured into replicating the deeds of David.
According to him, young men must not buckle under the pressure of girls he describes as “girls with generational entitlement,” while indicating Davido could afford this type of wedding because of his family’s generational wealth.
“As a young man, don’t let any girl watching the current trending wedding put you under pressure to do the same for her. Have a wedding you can afford. All fingers are not equal. Davido is spending generational wealth. You have no generational wealth. In fact, you may have generational debt,” his posts read on Facebook.
He added: “If you buckle under pressure from a girl with generational entitlement, your finances will experience the mother of all degeneration, and she will still call you an irresponsible man when you are broke. Follow your plans, not trends. Destroying yourself financially because you want to restore yourself romantically will always end tragically!”
The event, which many describe as the wedding of the year, was held on Tuesday, June 25 at Harbour Point in the Victoria Island area of Lagos State.
Tuesday’s ceremony came about two weeks after Davido confirmed his wedding to the chef. On Sunday, the 30 BG boss posted their pre-wedding photos to set the tone for one of the most anticipated events in the nation’s entertainment circle, tagging it #Chivido2024.
The photos set social media on fire as fans, celebrities, traditional leaders, and politicians congratulated the couple.
#Chivido2024 dominated trends on major social media platforms ahead of the grand event and reached a crescendo when Davido and Chioma tied the knot.
Fans and celebrities alike shared photos and videos from the colorful event, wishing the newlyweds a happy married life.
