David Hundeyin Reveals Why Wole Soyinka Detests Peter Obi

Investigative journalist David Hundeyin revealed Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka’s prejudice towards Labour Party presidential contender Peter Obi in a tweet. Hundeyin asserts that Soyinka’s views are not genuinely concerned for Nigeria’s future, but rather are shaped by personal grievances and allegiances. “Wole Soyinka is divided in the world into people he likes and people he has grudges against,” tweeted Hundeyin.

Hundeyin further alleged that Soyinka’s judgments are based on his personal feelings rather than objective assessment. “If he likes you, you can commit 1st degree homicide on national TV, and he will issue a statement in support of you. If he has a grudge against you, you can cure cancer, end poverty in Africa, and bring peace to the Middle East, and it won’t matter to him,” Hundeyin stated.

The journalist speculated that Soyinka’s distaste for Obasanjo lies at the core of her critique of Peter Obi rather than political ideology or performance. Hundeyin continued, “To him, nothing matters except his grudges and his loyalties.”

In addition, Hundeyin questioned Soyinka’s beliefs’ applicability given his senior age. You should therefore be aware that he is not at all thinking about Nigeria or its future when he opens his mouth to begin with these pranks. “What’s wrong with 89-year-old grandpa’s future?” he said.

Obasanjo and Soyinka had a troubled and protracted history together, with Obasanjo being a strong advocate for Obi. Their public criticism of one another goes all the way back to the days of the military administration, when their differences first surfaced.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi’s followers, also referred to as Obidients, are unfazed and maintain that his record speaks for itself. They contend that rather than the personal prejudices of powerful people, the main emphasis should be on Obi’s programmes and vision for Nigeria’s future
