Sanwo-Olu, who is serving a second term with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, citing threats from the EFCC.

His attorney, Darlington Ozurumba, is requesting a declaration affirming Sanwo-Olu’s rights to privacy, family life, and the management of his properties, including bank accounts, as protected by the 1999 Constitution. Sanwo-Olu contends that the EFCC’s threats of investigation, arrest, and detention during his term are unlawful and unconstitutional.

He also claims that the EFCC’s actions are driven by false, politically motivated corruption allegations, which he argues amount to an abuse of executive power and public office. Sanwo-Olu is seeking an order to prevent the EFCC from harassing, intimidating, or prosecuting him related to his governorship.
