Edo Policeman ‘Rapes’ Girl In Benin Police Station

Sources who spoke with FIJ on condition of anonymity said Uzuobor, a sergeant, was investigating a lady suspected of a crime.

On Friday, he and the unnamed lady were in his office when he was caught with his trousers down and the lady lying on a couch.

The details of the incident remain opaque, but video evidence shared on X on Sunday shows Uzuobor and the girl. In the background, a woman recording the video insists on doing so before the clip cuts abruptly.

“It happened on Friday,” a source told FIJ. “The man has gone into hiding now and we don’t know where he is.”

Reacting to the development on Monday, the Edo State Police Command said via X that it was aware of the matter and would investigate.

“The act is totally unacceptable, and the command has commenced a trial of the policeman involved in this act. Justice will surely be served,” the state command said.

On Monday, FIJ called Moses Yamu, the spokesman for the police in the state, but he did not take the phone calls.

In June, 56-year-old Owolabi Akinolu, a policeman attached to the Lagos Police Command,

was accused of raping a 17-year-old girl in his office. Four months after the incident, the police are yet to comment on the progress of the investigation.
