This is happening amid the ongoing nationwide protests against hunger , hardship and bad governance in Nigeria.
On Tuesday, videos circulating on X captured protesters setting fire to a mansion reportedly owned by Nazifi Sani Gumel, a serving member of the House of Representatives representing the Gumel/Maigatari/Sule Tankarkar/Gagarawa Federal Constituency, Jigawa State.
The youths accused Gumel of neglecting his constituency since his election 14 months ago during the last general elections.
In a related incident in Yobe State, another group of youths attacked the residence of a current serving Senator.
The Senator was accused of embezzling public funds intended for the development of his district.

Recall that Governor Umar Namadi on Thursday imposed a 24-hour curfew following vandalism and looting of public and private properties during the protest.
But the curfew was relaxed on Monday in 19 other local government areas after a review of the security situation in the state.
