It has also put the position of the head coach of the team Finidi George in doubt with the NFF now looking for additional support for the newly appointed coach. Already a plan to have a foreign technical adviser who is experienced on the African continent has been proposed.

Per what we exclusively gathered, former coach of Cameroon Toni Conceição is the anointed choice and he will be the new technical adviser while Finidi will keep his job as the head coach of the team alongside his assistants.

Conceição was among the most qualified candidates who applied for the job, but the NFF decided to hand it to Finidi who was an assistant to former coach Jose Peseiro for the 20 months that he was in charge of the team. That decision hasn’t worked out.

Today’s meeting will see the NFF propose the idea to the minister for his approval in order for the coach to resume almost immediately ahead of the next round of international games, which is the AFCON qualifiers in September.
