The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Newberry was once considered one of the most promising defenders in Newcastle’s academy. In 2016, he was recognized as the team’s best talent. However, he was unable to break into the first team and moved to Iceland’s Vikingur in 2018. Later, he returned to his homeland, playing for Linfield (with whom he won the Northern Irish Championship) and Cliftonville. He was also called up to the Northern Ireland U21 national team.
