Bright, it was gathered, went to pick his would-be wife, identified as Chinwendu, accompanied by his would-be-best man and the chief bridesmaid, and was attacked when they were returning to Uli.
Bright’s younger brother said the deceased was carrying one of the bridesmaids, while his would-be best-man carried Bright’s wife.
The brother said, “Bright was following the convoy of the motorcycles behind.
“He stopped at Ezego junction, Ihiala, to buy fuel in his motorcycle, but little did he know that he was headed to a destination beyond this realm.
“His best man and others who were riding ahead of him thought that he was coming behind them.
“When they got to Abbott Boys Secondary School, Ihiala, along the Onitsha-Owerri road, they discovered that Bright was not following them.
“His best man called his telephone number, but his line was no longer going through.
“His best man reversed his bike and went in search of him. On getting to Ezego junction, he saw Bright lying in his pool of blood.
“He found out that Bright was shot twice in the head along the Onitsha-Ihiala-Uli expressway, just opposite Sky Prince petrol station near Okohia junction.”
Eye witnesses confirmed that the assailants, who were two in number, rode behind him in a motorcycle and shot him.
His brother further revealed that his killers forced him to stop and hand over everything in his possession, including his phones, other belongings, as well as his motorcycle to them before shooting him.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, did not respond to inquiries sent to him on the incident.
