Sources indicate that the assailants, believed to be military personnel, allegedly transported Adeleye to the Ilese barracks after taking him from the polling unit. Initial investigations suggest that the kidnapping might have been orchestrated by a powerful individual with significant influence, though details remain unclear.

Hon. Olujimi Oloja, the Director-General of Adeleye’s campaign organization, confirmed that the lawmaker is currently being held in military custody. Oloja expressed strong disapproval of the involvement of military forces in what should have been a peaceful election process. He condemned the action as a direct affront to democratic values, calling it an unjustifiable interference in the local government election.

Despite attempts to secure Adeleye’s release, Oloja reported that military officers at the Ilese barracks have refused to release him, insisting that he remain in custody until the electoral process is completed. Oloja reassured the public that efforts were ongoing to ensure Adeleye’s safe release, stressing that the lawmaker’s well-being remains a priority.

In addition, Oloja criticized the use of intimidation and force during the elections, labeling it a violation of citizens’ fundamental rights. He pointed out Adeleye’s longstanding dedication to community development, especially in the field of education, and promised that once released, the lawmaker would address the public and clarify the situation.

Adeleye, known for his advocacy in education and his previous roles within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), including serving as the Local Government Organizing Secretary, has built a reputation for his commitment to the people of Ogun State. His abduction has drawn attention to the broader concerns about security and the integrity of the electoral process in the region.
