Nigeria is currently among the countries worst hit by price inflation, poverty, and biting economic hardship caused by corrupt government officials and defective government policies.

A cross section of Nigerians who spoke with our correspondent said going out to vote during election is a waste of time and effort, describing Nigerian politicians as self-centred who only want to be in the corridors of power for personal fame and enrichment.

“Our election is a scam, which can best be described as the more you look, the less you see. No politician in Nigeria deserves our vote as they are all self-serving. Any Nigerian who will go out and vote again in any future election should have his or her head reexamined.

“The same way politicians cheat in elections to make their way to power, they also loot the treasury when in power at the peril of the masses. In fact, politicians like to see the masses remain poor to keep them voiceless.

“The set of politicians this country has had since 1999 appears to be the worst we have ever had in terms of self-centredness and leadership deficiency.

Nigerians today are suffering to survive from hardship while the ruling class and their business friends are busy wasting the country’s money on luxuries. Our politicians do not deserve the votes of Nigerians anymore,” they said.

The country is seriously battling hard times at the expense of the low income earners who are choked daily with the steady hike in the price of commodities.

The Tinubu-led administration seemed not to be helping the situation as the economic woes currently facing the country had skyrocketed in his administration when compared with previous administrations.

President Bola Tinubu was elected president in 2023 with the hope of reviving the economy that was declining in the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration but the reality on ground shows the current administration is weak.
