Hoodlum dies after jumping fence to steal in FCT

A witness, Usman Ibrahim, said the incident happened around 11:12 pm when the suspect jumped through the fence of one Isaac Ishaku’s house to steal a motorcycle inside the compound on Wednesday.

He said the suspect, after jumping into the compound, went straight to where a brand new motorcycle was parked; he said a dog inside the compound raised an alarm.

According to him, some occupants of the house, upon hearing the bark of the dog, came out of the room, saying the suspect immediately turned back to jump out of the compound when he fell and hit his head on a stone.

“It is in the process that he tried to escape and went to jump through the fence, he fell from the fence and hit his head on a big stone he used as a ladder to climb the fence,” he said.

He said the suspect, who sustained deep injuries on his head, died while being rushed to a nearby clinic in the area by some vigilantes who arrived in the area.

A member of the vigilante who preferred anonymity confirmed the incident, saying the deceased suspect was a notorious bike thief who had been arrested severally for stealing bikes in the area.

He said the remains of the deceased suspect had been handed over to their relatives at neighbouring Kusaki village.

“In fact, when vigilantes arrived at the compound, it was discovered that the same suspect was identified and had been arrested more than three different times for stealing bikes in Kuje,” he said.

The spokeswoman fir the FCT Police Command, SP Adeh Josephine is yet to confirm the incident as at the time of filing the report.
