We were not too far away from marriage when the incident happened. We did the knocking rite in May. The marriage was in October. In July, I found out that she was having an affair with a guy in her office. In the messages, they called it an affair that’s leading nowhere. The guy had a girlfriend he was going to marry. My girlfriend also had me but they were busy doing it with each other because according to my girlfriend, “If I don’t do it with you now, it may never happen again.”.....See Full Story>>.....See Full Story>>
I broke up with her instantly but it didn’t cure the hurt in me. Starting all over again with someone new became a mountain too high. I cried. I kept asking why Sabina could do that to me. I cursed the guy for breaking up a beautiful relationship. I didn’t know his girlfriend but I prayed that his girlfriend would one day cheat on him. I prayed, “May it happen when they are married so his wife will come home with another man’s child.”
Five years after the breakup, I look back and thank the guy for rescuing me from a tortuous marriage. Sabina found another boyfriend but she cheated on him too and got pregnant with another guy. She didn’t marry the guy she got pregnant for but when she met another man who was willing to take care of her, love her and also love her child, Sabina went to cheat with her baby daddy, the same guy who didn’t marry her.
I listened to this story with shaking knees. “This could have been my lot if I married her. I was so in love I didn’t give myself the permission to see this side of her.” So today, When I pray, I say, “Thank God for the life of that guy who broke us apart. He was healing a future wound but I didn’t understand it.”
Sabina would call and ask me to give her something to buy food. She would complain about her hard luck and say sorry for how she treated me. I’m not happy with the way things turned out for her. I can’t jubilate over her lot. I’m often sad because no matter what, people we’ve loved before hold a special place in our hearts. I give her what I can give. She’ll say thank you and disappear for a while but I’m eternally grateful to the guy for taking this cup away from me even when it wasn’t my will.
