Pa Tajudeen Lagbaja, the Head of Family and a younger brother to the late Chief of Army Staff’s father, revealed his regret over obtaining the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) form for Lagbaja, saying he would have reconsidered had he known Lagbaja’s life would be tragically cut short.
In an emotional statement, Pa Tajudeen expressed his grief, saying, “The death that killed Taoreed Lagbaja ought to take me, his father’s younger brother… His death is so shocking to us.” He described Lagbaja as a community-minded person who contributed significantly, including constructing boreholes for his hometown.
A family member, Madam Toyin, alleged that Lagbaja’s death was caused diabolically due to a lingering land dispute within the community, a matter that had drawn tension when the Nigerian Army proposed establishing a hospital in the area in 2023. Despite the heartbreak, the family remains grateful for his life and contributions.
