The duo was returning from a funeral service in Takum when the assailants struck.
According to Emmanuel Bello, Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication to Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas, the late monarch was “hacked to death” in the vicious attack.
This senseless act of violence has claimed the lives of a respected community leader and his son, leaving behind a trail of grief and shock in the community.
He added that the governor received the news with “deep sadness”.
Bello said the governor has ordered security agencies to “immediately investigate the incident and pursue the perpetrators, insisting that all involved must be brought to justice swiftly”.
While urging Takum residents to remain calm, the governor promised to “leave no stone unturned in bringing the criminals to justice as soon as possible”.
He reiterated his commitment to eradicating lawlessness and banditry in the state.
Kefas extended his condolences to the people of Chanchanji and Takum.
He also affirmed his dedication to collaborating with partners to ensure the safety of the state for everyone.
In April, Abdulmutalib Jankada, traditional ruler of Sansani chiefdom in Taraba, was shot dead after gunmen invaded his palace.
