The Blues are not part of the Champions League this season but the Liverpool icon believes Enzo Maresca’s side has the potential to book a spot for next year.
He said on The Overlap: “I watched a game the other week, it was Bournemouth, the players you [Chelsea] were bringing on, I don’t know if that’ll be a problem later on but it was like [Joao] Felix coming on, [Pedro] Neto coming on, [Jadon] Sancho… wow.
“I didn’t have Chelsea anywhere near top 4 or think they could challenge but now looks like I think you could.”
It’s a testament to Maresca’s success, especially after the controversy over the Blues’ squad depth.
The boss’ decisions are paying off, as Chelsea are now unbeaten in four games.
