On Friday, the Kano State Hisbah Board confirmed Sankara’s arrest at an uncompleted building, where he was found with a married woman. The board’s Director General, Dr Abba Sufi, said the arrest followed a complaint from the woman’s brother-in-law, who accused Sankara of improper conduct.
Sufi also stated that Sankara could face charges on multiple counts, including allegations of running illicit drug centres, known as Picklock and 360.
In response, Sankara issued a statement on Friday night dismissing the accusations as false and politically motivated.
“These allegations are entirely false, baseless, and malicious, aimed at tarnishing my reputation,” Sankara said. “I urge the public to disregard this fabricated story, concocted by certain political elements.”
He added: “As a married man, I have the utmost respect for the institution of marriage and would never engage in actions that violate its sanctity.”
Sankara further vowed to pursue legal action against those spreading what he described as false claims.
