The inauguration was conducted at the Government House in Lafia, the state capital, on Friday.

The governor explained that the new appointment was aimed at ensuring optimum service delivery to the people of the state.

He said, “I’m happy to address you today on the occasion of the swearing-in of the new Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State.

“In furtherance to our commitment to refocus and rejig the administration, it became necessary to carry out some changes which involved the dissolution of the State Executive Council and the relief of the appointment of the (former) Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State.

“This was done to bring in new hands that would bring new perspectives into the system to enhance our capacity in the delivery of service for the progress and development of our dear state.”

He described the SSG’S office as the engine-room and cornerstone of government activities where the occupant of such office is expected to have extensive knowledge of the various components of governance.

The governor stressed that the choice of Magaji as the new SGS is predicated on his vast experience in public service.

“As you are aware, Barr. Labaran Magaji is a legal luminary, a reputable technocrat with global experience and an unassuming politician who served the state and Nigeria in various capacities. His contributions to our administration and ‘Project Nasarawa’ are legendary.

“I’m convinced that with his antecedents, loyalty and proven performance of excellence; he will be able to confidently serve this administration,” Sule added.

He further appreciated the former SSG, Muhammad Aliyu, and the former executive council members for their contributions, commitment to the growth and development of the state during their stay in office.

In a vote of thanks, Magaji pledged his loyalty to the governor and the state government, stating his readiness and willingness to settle down to hit the ground running, and to ensure that the governor’s dream of leaving the state better than he met it is achieved.
