According to Richmond, more votes count are still expected and concentration is on fighting to make sure all votes are counted.
“We still have votes to count. We still have states that have not been called yet. We will continue overnight to fight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every voice is heard. So, you won’t hear from the vice president tonight, but you will hear from her tomorrow,” Richmond stated.
Shortly after, Harris’s office called a lid, signaling no further public appearances for the night.
Attendees at Howard University were then advised to leave, though many remained optimistic for a Harris victory.
Former President Trump, however, appeared to be narrowing in on the lead, with projections from Decision Desk HQ placing him at 248 Electoral College votes compared to Harris’s 213.
Trump is projected to have won Georgia and North Carolina and is leading narrowly in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona, although those states are still counting ballots, with results too close to call.
With just one more win from the “blue wall” states—Michigan, Wisconsin, or Pennsylvania—alongside Arizona, Trump could surpass the 270 electoral votes needed to reclaim the presidency.
The counting process in states like Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania is expected to take days to complete.
The Harris campaign remains hopeful, asserting a potential path to victory if the vice president can secure the “blue wall” states. Achieving this would likely depend on gaining strong support from urban areas such as Milwaukee, Detroit, and Philadelphia.
