The latest transfer rumours claim that Manchester United want to make a Real Madrid shot-stopper their new number one as changes continue to take place under Sir Jim Ratcliffe. That’s according to Spanish publication Nacional (via Football365), who claim that United are the frontrunners to land the Ukraine international. They add that Real Madrid have been unsuccessful in their attempts to tie him down to a new contract.
With that said, the Spanish giants may be forced to cash in on him to avoid him leaving for free at the end of next season. United are reported to want to make him the new number one at Old Trafford, with more changes from Sir Jim Ratcliffe expected ahead of the new season.
Elsewhere, Adrien Rabiot admits he has made no decision on his future yet amid interest from a host of European clubs. The Frenchman saw a transfer move to Old Trafford collapse last summer, prompting him to extend his contract at Juventus for another year.
United are claimed to have reignited their interest and are moving strongly to sign him as he is coming to the end of his contract. However, they face competition from former club Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich who are reported to have kept in ‘constant contact’ with Rabiot’s agent, his mother, as per TEAMtalk.
It is said that a return to Parc des Princes cannot be ruled out, in light of the high budget the club has available for salaries. In March, Rabiot provided an update on his future, saying: “I have not decided anything regarding my future.
“It is true that last season I remained at Juventus knowing full well that we wouldn’t participate in European competition. That was my choice.
“Next season we are due to participate in the Champions League and the Club World Cup. So these are elements in my thoughts, but I have not made any decisions yet. I will wait to the end of the season, then we will discuss it with the club and at that moment I will see.”
A decision over his future is not likely to arrive before Euro 2024, however. His involvement in the tournament could well maximise his options.
