My Husband Came To My Office To Warn My Boss

Nick is my boss at work. We had a very good relationship. He talked to me like his co-equal. He’s like that with everyone in the office. You wouldn’t know he’s the boss until we tell you. He was the first to compliment me on my appearance; “Abena, you look good.” “I like your hair. I know your husband has paid for it already. Else I would have paid for it.” “I like your energy today. What did you eat last night that you’re this lively?”.....See Full Story>>.....See Full Story>>

He was a vibe so all of us gravitated to him. My husband on the other hand doesn’t know what it means to compliment his wife. I can develop wings like an angel and fly away but this man wouldn’t notice. Even when I dress up and I ask him how I look, he would look at me and turn away without saying anything. I didn’t fight him because of that. He’s still an amazing man and creates a vibe in his own way.

He knows my boss Nick because I talk about him every day just like I talk about all my other colleagues. I told him about what Nick said about my hair thinking it was something we could laugh about. I told him about those funny compliments Nick gave me, something to spice up the conversation and gossip in the house.

Do you know my husband came to my office to warn my boss?

Once he entered the office and someone pointed out my boss, he walked to him and told him to take his mouth off me. I saw him too late. All my colleagues were there. Nick looked at me expecting me to say something but I was too embarrassed to say anything meaningful.

I’m no longer happy at the workplace. My colleagues treat me like an outcast. They talk behind my back and make jokes about me. My boss doesn’t even greet me or give me work to do directly. He gives it to one of my colleagues to give it to me. Before they tell me anything, they’ll go like, “I hope you don’t tell your husband what I’m telling you.”

I want to resign and stay home until I get a new job. I can’t function in such a toxic environment my husband has created for me. It’s affecting our marriage. Everyone points fingers at me. The woman who brought her husband to the office to attack her boss. The sad thing is, my husband has refused to talk about the incident since it happened. All he said was, “I’ve done it. What can you do?”

I’m a sad person as I write this. What did I do wrong to deserve this? I had a happy and conducive working environment until my husband happened.
