Madueke and Palmer agree on Jackson verdict as Chelsea sent clear transfer message
Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer have heaped praise on Nicolas Jackson following Chelsea’s emphatic win over West Ham at the weekend. The 22-year-old striker put two past David Moyes’ side at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon as the Blues cruised to a 5-0 victory.
Palmer put the west London outfit ahead inside the opening quarter of an hour before Conor Gallagher chipped in on the half hour mark. Madueke beat Alphonse Areola moments later, giving Chelsea a three-goal lead at the break.
Shortly into the second half, Jackson etched himself onto the scoresheet. He later doubled his tally, wrapping up three crucial points for the Blues as the race for Europa League qualification builds a head of steam.
After the game, the former Villarreal ace marked the win with a celebratory post on Instagram – which racked up over 150,000 likes in less than 24 hours. In his caption, Jackson wrote: “One family [blue heart emoji] amazing win again let’s go for more.”
Nearly three thousand fans flooded the comment section with messages of support, but a few words from his Chelsea teammates stood out. Palmer showered Jackson with praise, writing: “Class bro [fire emoji].”
Meanwhile, Madueke claimed the striker as ‘my nine’. Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Josh Kofi Acheampong, who made his senior debut off the bench against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening, also showed their support for Jackson.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Pochettino was quizzed on Chelsea’s performance. The Blues boss said: “The assist for Noni to Jackson, that showed we learn, that we are smart.
“The situation with the penalty against Everton, we received so much criticism, but a young team always needs to make mistakes. Always you need to feel this situation to improve. Today was a great action from Noni to see how the group has started to believe, how they have started to feel between them.
“It is always a process that takes time. It can take one month, six months or one year but the most important thing is they have started to set the principles, start to live like a group of players to create all the links to compete.
“I am so pleased with that. We are part of this process, to help them to grow, to be more mature and keep improving in every aspect. It is a massive step but it is the step we wanted to reach.
“Now it is to evolve in other aspects and the possibility to go with tactical evolutions and we can improve from there but without principles, it is impossible to evolve in other aspects.”
