The traditional ruler made the call when members of the new Governing Council and principal officers of the univer­sity, led by the Chairman and Pro-Chancellor, Chief Dan Orbih, paid a courtesy visit to his palace in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Gov­ernment Area of Edo State.

He expressed confidence in the ability of the new Governing Council to transform the fortunes of the university, saying it was made up of personalities with a track record of great achieve­ments.

The monarch noted that though the challenges in the uni­versity were daunting, they could only be surmounted with positive commitment from the members of the Governing Council.

He lamented that there was a big disconnect between Ekpo­ma Community and the univer­sity during the time of the for­mer Special Intervention Team (SIT) members, as members of the team never stepped their feet on his palace, nor related with him.

He pledged his full support for the new Governing Council and thanked them for considering it appropriate to pay him a courtesy visit barely 24 hours after their inauguration by the State Gov­ernor, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo.
