Saturday Telegraph gathered that the Okada rider and a middle-aged woman alongside her three children were on the bike while the incident happened.
The occupants of the vehicle, it was gathered were the students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree who were on their way to Lagos after the completion of their first semester examinations.
Witnessing the ugly incident, the youths of the ancient town got infuriated and set the vehicle and its occupants ablaze. However, the driver of the car managed his way and escaped.
It took the intervention of the policemen to rescue the two other persons who had already been set ablaze before their arrival.
The Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola who confirmed the incident, called for calm.
Opalola said: “The driver escaped immediately the accident happened after much appealing to the angry mob they set ablaze the remaining two occupants of the vehicle later we quenched the fire rescued them transferred them to hospital in Osogbo area remained calm”.
Meanwhile, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has described the road accident as sad and unfortunate.
Adeleke in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed and made available to journalists in Osogbo, on Saturday evening, called for a thorough Investigation and consequent action.
The Governor who said the incident is regrettable, especially with the loss of lives involved, called on relevant agencies to investigate the accident in view of negative public reaction.
He, however, appealed to the public to be patient as the government will get to the root of the matter and ensure that the law takes its course.
“I appeal to our people at Odeomu to remain calm. Action is already ongoing by the Police. The law will take its course”, the Governor was quoted as saying.
